Set against the backdrop of a little known saga in 1930s British-occupied India (now Bangladesh) where a group of schoolboys and young women led by a school-teacher, Masterda Surya Sen dared to take on an Empire. `Chittagong` is the story of a diffident 14 year old boy, `Jhunku`. School-kids organised an armed revolt against the brits in Chittagong leading to casualties on both sides. Swept up into this seemingly impossible mission, the reluctant teenager battles with his own self-doubts to achieve an improbable triumph by regaining the control on food grains to the peasants, defeating the then mighty British.

Bharat, that is India: Nationhood & our civilizational imagination

Mr. Sanjeev Sanyal
13th April, 2024
L-16, LHC, IIT Kanpur

While colonial constructs have always denied India its nationhood, the concept of Bharatvarsha has been attested from Vedic times. The land is described as stretching from the Himalayas to the oceans, and the Saraswati River, in particular, holds an important place in defining its culture. Thus, the Puranas and the epics suggest a clear knowledge of the sub- continent’s geography and civilizational unity. The talk will elaborate on this and various related issues, such as the civilizational unity of Dravidian and Vedic cultures, and our Constitution and Drafting Committee’s unequivocal statement about India being a single nation.

How old is Indian civilization?

Mr. Nilesh Nilkanth Oak
21st March, 2024
L-5, LHC, IIT Kanpur

Indian civilization is considered one of the oldest and rich in ancient Indian narratives. On the other hand, agenda-driven colonial, and dogmatic narratives of the last two centuries brainwashed all living generations of Indians into believing that the story of Indian civilization is the story of serial invasions. Is there empirical, scientific, and logical evidence in the Indian subcontinent and/or around the world that allows the exploration of the antiquity of Indian civilization which in turn also eliminates the nonsense of Aryan Invasion Theory? The first presentation explored empirical, scientific, and decisive evidence that not only establishes deep antiquity of Indian civilization but also exposes the fraud of the Aryan Invasion Theory. Our knowledge grows from existing foundations and so is the growth in science. A revolutionary theory solves the unsolved problem posed by previous theories, yet it gives rise to newer problems of higher complexities. This is the tetradic schema of the scientific method. If celestial evidence (session 1) leads to the deep antiquity of Indian civilization, one naturally wonders what and if any terrestrial evidence exists in support of such deep antiquity. Is there archaeological, geological, oceanography, physical anthropology, or genetic evidence that corroborates the findings of celestial evidence for the deep antiquity of Indian civilization? The second presentation explored decisive oceanography, paleontology, hydrology, astronomy, genealogy, genetics, etc. evidence that beautifully corroborates the sheet anchors of Indian civilization.
